Flea Market

Do you like half-price items, new and reused, garage –sales items, and would like to save even more on fresh fruits and vegetables, then Star-Lite Flea Market is the place for you.
This is a Sound-slides presentation of Star-Lite Flea Market in 8327 South Tacoma Way; Star-Lite it is one of the largest Flea markets in the greater Seattle area. In a better weekend, nearly 700 vendors sell their wares to thousands of visitors. The market has more than ninety percent (90%) of vendors and customers of Latino origin. The best days are weekends, where both inside stores and the outside stalls are open to hundreds of vendors. If you ever been to a third world country’s market, then don’t forget that this market also let you haggle with the vendors to get even a better price.
Background -The Star-Lite Drive-In opened on the property in 1948 and was later converted into a swap meet. In 2001, the Internal Revenue Service seized the property during an investigation into a Lakewood crime family, and in 2004 it was sold at an auction for 7.2 million dollars. The News Tribune
My main intention is to put light on this flea market in order to aid those who are not familiar with this type of market or its whereabouts, and the services that it provides to the community in this economic downturn. The market is an alternative ways to save even more money. Merchants worked at booths both inside and outside selling all kinds of items, such as clothing, shoes, electronics, fresh vegetables, and if you are a fan of Latin foods, then you will enjoy that too with a lower price than in regular restaurants. The market is also a better place to resale your unwanted household items, and or construction equipment, especially when moving out of town, also great place to shop for your new home when you newly move into town. The larger spaces, probably 10 X 20 are rented for $20 a day, while smaller or medium sizes 10 X 10 rents for $15, also tables are rented for $3.
In any case, even if you don’t buy anything, you won’t regret it, because you will get your day’s exercise, a fresh open air, and the admission fee is only a buck with free parking; but mind you the restrooms are filthy and it is better if you can keep it until later. Check it out, you’ll love!

Twitter Reflection

My experience with Twitter-something that starts with “what are you doing?” end of becoming a huge idea and informational sharing space.
I didn’t know much about twitter before this Digital class, and I found it amazing, because you can connect with friends, make new ones, follow your favorite celebrity, and get other news stories all at one place. For this, I believe there is a bright future ahead for twitter use by not only journalists, but also ordinary individuals, like myself, who would like to follow their favorite people. It is one of the best ways to share and discover what is really happening right now, for instance when the news of Osama Bin Laden’s death was first broadcast via twitter. I think twitter will continue to attract more and more people as a social networking site.
It is easy to use as you become familiar with its tools, such the hashtags, #FF, RT, Lists, and Broadcast vs. Converse, follow, and its limited tweet characters of 140 for using the free service.
I don’t have much to say about twitter other than the projects we have covered in digital media class, such as recommending a radio, video, and photo journalists to our classmates and our followers.
